Ever wondered where the Fourth came from? Who started it? Why? We added this section for those of you who are curious (or just bored).
It all started in the summer of 1975 with an impromptu party at Bill and Joan Briggs's house. It wasn't called "The First Fourth" back then, but that night of friends, family, and celebration sparked a tradition that has spanned generations.
Originally an annual event in Ventura County, the party grew so big (and so much work) that by the late 80s we switched to a bi-annual schedule. In the late 90s, Bill and Joan moved to Willow Creek, which has been the party's home ever since.
The original crew is largely still with us! The torch is slowly passing to the next generation, but this event wouldn't exist without Bill and Joan, nor without the incredible efforts of our extended family of friends.
